No more I say, No More!!! I simply refuse to continue without even the most rudimentary for of climate control. How can I create diabolical weapons of mass destruction if my brain is constantly cooking do to this thing so call scientists call "Global Warming". I guess Ill have to do something about that but until then I need a personal solution.
So lets begin.
Starting with a century old clock spring barrel I machined 8 pivots into its side and machined off the heavy drive gear. Next using vintage model prop's I started on the blades. Each was bifurcated and machined to accept a turned wooden pivot. Once all 8 blades were finished I began the tedious task of building the variable pitch mechanism. All in all there are nearly 200 hand made parts required to construct what you see below.

Raku Ray Guns
Dr D — Wed, 09/16/2009 - 23:58
Muddy Mountain Pottery creates all kinds of ceramic products, but most quirky of all are these antique-style retro ray guns.
Raku Ray Guns are one-of-a-kind ceramic sculptures made by West Magoon. They are inspired by alien technology unearthed at a secret UFO crash site, known only to a tribe of Wyoming Hill People. These photos depict all of the individual Ray Guns currently available. Each is named after a classic science fiction author or character. The moon crater wall plaques that support the guns each measure 12" wide by 9" high.
Each sculpture is hand-built by assembling several parts that have been made on the potter's wheel. All of the Ray Guns are glazed and fired using the low-fire raku firing technique. The sculptures are pulled from the kiln while the glaze is red-hot and molten and placed into a metal barrel filled with newspaper which is then covered. This smothers the fire, which creates a reduction atmosphere, giving the glazes their metallic look.
